What's My Background?
I've been in technical theater for about 25 years, I am currently a technical director and ETCP Certified Rigger. I work primarily in higher education, but I am willing to travel within the USA for theatrical rigging contracts, as long as they work around the schedule of my day job.
Currently, I am the Technical Director at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. I oversee the technical aspects of the theatrical productions for Theatre Department in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, supervise Graduate and Undergraduate Student Technical Directors, and liaise as Faculty Technical Director. As an Assistant Professor, I also teach various undergraduate and graduate courses in the Design/Tech Area for the school's theatre degrees. In addition to my educational responsibilities, I am the ETCP Rigging Consultant for Valley Entertainment dba EKO Crewing in the Boise, Idaho area. I have also worked as the Technical Director and Production Manager at Weber State University, as an Assistant Professor and Technical Director for Saint Louis University, and as a Set Designer, theatrical draftsman, technician, and Assistant Technical Director for the Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre Company in Logan, Utah. I was the Technical Director for the McLeod Summer Playhouse in Carbondale, Illinois, and I was also a professional sound designer for theater in the St. Louis, Missouri area.
